The Jack W. Hayford School of Pastoral Nurture
Consultation I

The Pastor's Personal Life with Perspectives
on the Congregation and its Ministry
Concepts presented by Pastor Jack Hayford

This five-day time of teaching and interaction with Pastor Jack Hayford is designed to feature essential concepts on “How I Think About Pastoring” from Jack's viewpoint side of THE PASTOR’S MINDSET.  Four primary points of focus provide the thematic grid which frames Dr. Hayford’s Consulation I:

As a Servant-shepherd leader,
how do I think about my own personal walk with God?

Knowing the flow of all of life finds its fountainhead in the leaders relationship and experience with, journey forward and response to Jesus Himself, as Dr. Hayford points to the roots of pastoral fruitfulness through leading with a life of purpose, purity and preserved integrity by which true prophetic sensitivity to the Holy Spirit enables leadership that grows the Body after Jesus' heart, will and intentions of His Church.  Ask, "Pastor Jack, what are the keys to conducting your own life in relationship with Him; in finding God’s will; in receiving a sense of confidence in direction and decision making; in processing life’s ‘tough things;’ in maintaining an integrity in your whole life?"

How do I think about the people I serve as pastor-teacher?

Pastoring centers in people, in relationships, in ministering to broken hearts, in evangelizing lost souls, in organizing and mobilizing, in teaching and discipling. Aside from how those things are done– "Pastor Jack, how do you think about people; what motivates your approach to ministry in terms of human value and personal potential?" (Many pastors have said, "This one segment of the week affected my thinking and has produced fruitful change more than anything else.")
How do I think about the services and gatherings I conduct?

Church services are an inescapable centerpiece for pastoral life, and "the assemblying of yourselves together" is a biblical call to believers.  What keys bring vitality without superficiality, worship that introduces "the weight of glory" in a congregation, and discipleship that multiplies Jesus' own sensible and sensitive, penetrating ministry in and through the individual members of the local assembly – "Pastor Jack, how do you perceive God’s purpose in worship and teaching; the pastor’s role as pertains to worship leadership in services, and the keys to a clear focus and effectiveness in fulfilling Christ's intention for the pastor’s ministry in the Word?"

Afternoon times "in the Word" with Pastor Jack, in Ephesians– “My pastoral priorities are found as clearly in this epistle than anywhere in God’s Word. The Spirit-filled and Spirit-formed life is the pattern the NT reveals that will bring true "church-life" to fruition, as pastors lay hold of concepts and leadership keys that unlock the doorway to fulfilling service as a shepherd assigned to serve the Great Shepherd’s flock.”
